PURPOSE: To obtain a new dermal preparation for external use, containing an ingredient selected from a protein and its hydrolyzate and a specific glycoside and capable of making the metabolism of the skin active, increasing the elastic ity of the skin and manifesting excellent effects on protection of the skin and moisture retention. CONSTITUTION: This dermal preparation for external use is obtained by blending (A) an ingredient selected from a protein and its hydrolyzate (e.g., soybean protein, globulin or pepsin) with (B) a glycoside of a hydroxysalicylic acid and/or an aliphatic ester glycoside of the hydroxysalicylic acid of formula I, II or III [R<1> is H or a 1-20C (un)saturated hydrocarbon; R<2> is a saccharide residue]. The amounts of the ingredients used based on the total amount of the dermal preparation are preferably 0.1-10wt.% ingredient (A) and 0.1-7wt.% ingredient (B) and the amount of the ingredient (B) used is preferably 0.1-60 pts.wt. per 1 pt.wt. ingredient (A). Furthermore, the ingredient (B) is preferably obtained by reacting the hydroxysalicylic acid or its aliphatic ester with an acetylated or an acetobrominated saccharide in the presence of an acidic catalyst. For example, 3-β-D-glucopyranosyloxysalicylic acid is cited as the ingredient (B).
