<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock-type electric connector, that is constituted of a smaller number of component parts for its simpler structure than existing lock type connectors and for higher cost efficiency. SOLUTION: A lock-type electric connector 10 provided is adapted to be fit into or locked on a complementary connector 12 along a fitting axis 14. The connector 10 is sheathed with a conductive shield 22 substantially around its housing and plural terminals. Generally, the connector 10 is provided on both sides with a pair of latch arms 30 adapted to be locked on appropriate latches 32 on the complementary connector 12. The latch arms can deflect sidewards to the fitting axis, or outwards from their locked position to an unlocked position. The connector 10 is provided at its assembly 24 with a support member 26, which is slidable between the first position so as to allow the latch arms to freely deflect and the second position to bring its integral portions 28 outside the latch arms and prevent the latch arms to deflect outwards to the unlocked position.</p> |
