Epoxy(meth)acrylates, a process for their preparation and their use

Prepn. of epoxy (meth)acrylates by reacting organic epoxy cpds. having a no. mol. wt. of 130 - 1000 with (I) 0.7 - 1.0 carboxyl equivs. of an acidic gp.-contg. cpd. and (II) 0 - 0.3 NH equivs. of a basic nitrogen cpd. chosen from ammonia or a (cyclo)aliphatic prim. or sec. amine, or a mixt. of these, per epoxy equiv., so that all of the epoxy gps. are reacted. (I) comprise carboxyl- and ester gp.-contg. reaction prods. of (A) organic dicarboxylic acid (anhydrides) having a mol. wt. of 98 - 164 and (B) alcohol OH gp.-contg. reaction prods. of (a) (meth)acrylic acid and (b) a tri- or tetravalent ether alcohol contg. at least two ethylene oxide units, having a mol. wt. of 180 - 1000 and contg. no propylene oxide units. (B) have a COOH / OH equiv. ratio of 0.6 - 0.95. The epoxy (meth)acrylates prepd. by this method are also claimed.
