PURPOSE: To obtain an emulsification dispersion stabilizer excellent in freezing stability and stability when allowed to stand by using a PVA polymer contg. a specified branched alkylamide and ethylenically unsatd. alkylamide as copolymerizable components as a base. CONSTITUTION: This emulsification dispersion stabilizer is based on a PVA polymer made of a copolymer contg. 0.1-20mol% branched alkyl-acrylamide represented by the formula (where R1 is H or methyl, each of R2 to R4 is alkyl or aryl, R5 is H, alkyl, etc., and R2 to R5 have >=4 carbon atoms in total) and 0.1-20mol% ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid or its salt as copolymerizable components. This stabilizer is excellent in freezing stability and stability when allowed to stand, has a low structural viscosity index at high viscosity and produces a satisfactory emulsion. |
