The stop screw comprises a banjo bolt (12) with a screw head (14) and a threaded section (16) which screws into the gear unit. The head of the screw has a plastic section (46) moulded onto a hollow cylindrical metal core (40) which is fitted onto the threaded section and the guide (44) for the locking bolt (18). The metal core has a rim or grooves on the surface to which the plastic part is moulded. The plastic part forms the hexagon insert bit of the banjo bolt, and a sealing lip (52) all around the side facing the threaded part of the bolt. It also forms a location (36) for a spring (38) to pre-tension the locking bolt.
