FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: automatic line has machines arranged according to technological process and at least one of them includes two-position block for parallel machining of parts, and step-motion mechanism with guide member for location of articles. Machining of lengthy articles can be effected in vertical position, and increased transportation speed enhances accuracy of positioning in machines and improves productive capacity. For this purpose, step-motion mechanism 12 contains movable bars 17 and stationary ones 26 with grips adapted for embracing articles 2. Also provided are mechanisms 19 and 28 for moving in and out of strips, and mechanism 20 for longitudinal displacement of bars 17. Two-position block 7 for parallel machining of articles can cooperate with mechanism 20 for longitudinal displacement of bars 17 and synchronous displacement together with them through a step of article transportation.
