PURPOSE: To obtain anα-olefin polymer having a high activity and being capable of giving anα-olefin polymer having a high stereoregularity and a broad molecular weight distribution. CONSTITUTION: A process for polymerizing anα-olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a solid catalyst component [A] essentially consisting of magnesium, titanium, halogen and an electron donor, an organoaluminum compound component [B], an organosilicon compound component [C] represented by the general formula: Si(OR<1> )2 (NR<2> R<3> )2 (wherein R<1> , R<2> and R<3> are each a 1-10C hydrocarbon group), and another organosilicon compound component [D].
