PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a belt transporting apparatus constituting to effectively, i.e., rapidly and effectively transfer at all advantageous positions of an advancing passage of a belt. SOLUTION: A belt transporting apparatus comprises a support 32 for a belt supply bobbin 30, advance rollers 40 for intermittently unrolling and advancing the belt, guide rollers 45, 50, 51, 52 for guiding the belts 37 between platens and then a discharge state around one of the platens of the press, a tension roller 60 for placing the belts under tension and a unit 70 for removing the worn belts from the machine. The advance rollers 40 are arranged in a parallel group downstream from the platen press 14 and slightly above a plane of transport for the sheets 1 through the press. The machine includes at least one window 16 provided in at least one of the lateral walls of the frame 10 of the machine above this group of advance rollers 40.
