Enantioselective enzymatic reduction of secodione derivatives, comprises reducing the secodione derivative with an oxidoreductase/dehydrogenase in the presence of NADH or NADPH as cofactor, where the secodione derivative is used in a concentration of >= 10 g/l during the beginning of the reaction; and continuously regenerating the oxidized cofactor NAD or NADP formed by the oxidoreductase/dehydrogenase. Enantioselective enzymatic reduction of secodione derivatives of formula (I) (where the ring structure comprises no, one or more hetero atoms) comprises reducing the secodione derivative with a oxidoreductase/dehydrogenase in the presence of NADH or NADPH as cofactor, where the secodione derivative is used in a concentration of >= 10 g/l during the beginning of the reaction; and continuously regenerating the oxidized cofactor NAD or NADP formed by the oxidoreductase/dehydrogenase. R 1 : H or 1-4C alkyl group; R 2 : H, 1-8C alkyl group or OH-protective groups, like an ester; R 3 : H, CH 3 or halide; and A : benzene ring or six carbon ring with 0, 1 or 2 carbon-carbon double bond, where a double bond is optionally present at the position 6/7 or 7/8 and the carbon at the positions 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 16 is respectively substituted with hydrogen, 1-4C alkyl, halide or phenyl.
