PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a clamp assembly which clamps a lithographic plate and another flexible printing medium to a cylinder. SOLUTION: A base 22 defining a channel 34 and a plate 42 mounted on the base 22 and overlying the channel 34 are included. An elongated cam member 36 is arranged in a channel and has cam surfaces 36a, 36b which are profiled so that when the cam member is at the first angular position, it extends to approach a plate relatively and when it is at the second angular position, it is separated from the plate. A stop 52 which establishes these two positions of the cam member is included. When the cam member is at the second position, and the fringe part margin of a recording medium is inserted between the cam member and the plate, the movement of the cam member to the first position generates the simultaneous grip and tension of the recording medium by a clamp assembly. An interposer 62 can be arranged between the plate and the cam member to prevent direct engagement of the recording medium by the cam member and thus prevent the clamp assembly from pulling on the recording medium while clamping the medium.
