THIN-FILM MAGNETIC HEAD AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To reduce undershooting present on both the sides of the main peak of an isolated reproduced waveform. CONSTITUTION: The thin-film magnetic head is equipped with a 1st magnetic pole layer 100 and a 2nd magnetic pole layer 102 which are made of nickel-iron alloy and have their base end parts 100d and 102d connected together, a thin-film coil 103 which is wound around the 2nd magnetic pole layer 102, and a magnetic gap layer 104 made of aluminum oxide provided between the tip part 10a of the 1st magnetic pole layer 100 and the tip part 12a of the 2nd magnetic pole layer 102. Then the tip parts 10a and 12a are divided into two across magnetic insulating layers 10c and 12c made of aluminum oxide along the surfaces facing a recording medium.
