PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser oscillator and a laser light source driving method especially provided with a nonlinear optical medium for generating a second harmonic wave and also capable of pulse-driving the light source with a high efficiency, with respect to a laser oscillator and a laser light source driving method using a semiconductor laser, etc. SOLUTION: An optical resonator is composed of a laser crystal 300 and an output mirror 500, and a nonlinear optical medium 400 is inserted in the optical resonator to generate a second harmonic wave, and it is also possible for the optical resonator to be pumped with the laser light source 100 and to make a driving pulse period T of a pulse driving means to beτFL>T-τtoτFL (fluorescentlife). Also, it is possible to make a first pulse drive the laser light source 100 up to a degree of not emitting light yet but make a second pulse drive the laser light source 100 to emit light.
