Retractable loudspeakers for use in road vehicles

The loudspeakers are mounted so they can be moved between two positions dependent upon whether they are in or out of use. The loudspeaker 15 is set into a housing plate 3 that connects with a curved toothed rack 12. The plate is pivot mounted 19 within a facia or shelf 18. An electric motor 22 driven pinion gear meshes with the rack and allows the speaker to be retracted flush with the facia when not in use.
