RETRIEVAL DEVICE AND METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high speed retrieval by recording a key stroke being an object of retrieval and plural input stroke information sets as plural group information sets to retrieve a hand-written stroke. SOLUTION: A storage means 3 stores plural strokes entered from a data entry means 1 as a group by using a page number in the unit of one display pattern as an index and stores a designated stroke by a stroke setting means 2. In the case of retrieving a hand-writing input, a retrieval stroke entry means 4 enters a stroke to be retrieved, then a retrieval means 5 compares the retrieval stroke entered by the entry means 4 with plural key strokes stored in the storage means 3 and provides an output of a page index including similar key strokes. Then a retrieval result display means 6 displays sequentially information of a page in which the retrieved key stroke is in existence based on the page index.
