摘要 |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure satisfactory electromagnetic transducing characteristics in a high density recording region by regulating the mean value and standard deviation of major axis size of magnetic metal powder in an upper magnetic layer. SOLUTION: A lower nonmagnetic layer 4 contg. nonmagnetic powder dispersed in a binder is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate 1. An upper magnetic layer 2 contg. ferromagnetic powder dispersed in a binder is formed on the nonmagnetic layer 4. In the resultant magnetic recording medium, the ferromagnetic powder in the magnetic layer 2 is magnetic metal powder and satisfies the relation of 0.01μm<L+2σ<0.33μm between the mean value L of major axis size and the standard deviationσof major axis size. A vinyl chloride copolymer having an average polymn. degree of <=180 and contg. a metallic sulfonate as polar groups preferably accounts for >=50wt.% of the binder in the magnetic layer 2. |
