Control for automatic transmission of vehicle

The processor control for the automatic transmission includes a neuronal net as well as a memory store. This stores a range of gearchange options in two categories; optimum and non optimum. The gearchange control compares the actual sensor values of the control with programmed values to determine the optimum gear change conditions. The gear change conditions are in a table relating torque and speed. If the actual measured conditions for the vehicle cross between two fields representing different gear ratios the rate of change of throttle pedal and the vehicle acceleration are taken into account when determining if, for example, the gear ratio needs to change down for added torque. For slow changing throttle settings the gearchange is blocked until well into the next ratio field. This reduces the actual number of gear changes.
