Data transfer in cellular radio system

The method involves transferring data between a base station in a cell and a mobile station according to a time multiplex method in time slots of a time multiplex frame. During the transfer of data the base stations in the adjacent cells are monitored for radio communications. The transfer of data is interrupted each time a defined time interval has elapsed. In the pauses between the data transmissions, the base stations in the adjacent cells are monitored for radio communications. The data packets (DP) are divided into data packet segments (DPS) separated by the pauses (P).
