摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use the reaction solvent efficiently while keeping the concentration of theα-olefin component in the polymerizer for producing a low-molecular- weight component low by recirculating the vapor from the polymerizer in a specified manner in effecting the multistage slurry polymerization of ethylene with anα-olefin. SOLUTION: Ethylene is copolymerized with anα-olefin in multiple stages, the reaction solvent is separated from the formed polymer, and the separated solvent is recirculated directly and/or after being purified. This process is carried out in the following manner: part or all of the condensate of a vapor from the reactor for producing a high-molecular-weight component is withdrawn, this portion is processed in an equipment (e.g. distillation tower) for separating anα-olefin component, the solvent partly devoid of theα-olefin component is fed into the reactor for producing a low-molecular-weight component, and theα-olefin-component-rich solvent is fed into the reactor for producing a high- molecular-weight component.
