REENTRANT GARBAGE COLLECTION PROCESSING IN FILE SYSTEM IMMANENT IN FLASH MEMORY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure more storage places for the writing of a new file by making destination storage locations adjacent with each other. SOLUTION: A swap sector 26 is the next sector behind an event queue sector 22 and is used for reconstituting a regular sector 28 during a garbage collection. These files which are not marked for the garbage collection or are not tagged during the reconstitution are written so that the files may be successively adjacent to the swap sector 26. The swap sector 26 is copied as a complete sector in one of regular sectors 28 as designated sectors. This copying is executed for each regular sector 28 in a memory device so as to generate the file system of adjacent files which are made compact.
