PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toughening material which can improve the impact resistance of a resin without detriment to its gloss and to provide a resin composition containing the same. SOLUTION: A cis-1,4-polybutadiene having a cis 1,4-bond content of 60wt.% or above, a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) (as measured by gel permeation chromatography) of 100,000-1,000,000, an Mw/Mn ratio of 2.5 or below (Mn is the number-average (molecular weight) and an Rz/Mz ratio of 50×10<-12> m.mol.kg<-1> Rz is the z-average square rotation radius, and Mz is the Z-average absolute molecular weight) is used.
