Controller for bucket-chain excavator with inverter-fed cable drives

The Controller uses three-phase drives (14,15) for the cables (10,11) raising and lowering the bucket-chain guide (2) which are governed by controls (42) subject to a central processor (40) of signals from contactless ultrasonic distance-measuring devices (35,36) associated with the forward and top sections (9,12) of the guide. To guarantee the computed depth of excavation (32), the vertical distances from the embankment (23) are compared with a set-point (41). The signals are evaluated by logic (39) performing addition and averaging.
