PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject high-purity compound having a double cone type crystal form useful as an intermediate for an antiviral agent, etc., by suspending 2-aminochloropurine having a needle-like or amorphous crystal form in water having a specific pH and heating. SOLUTION: 2 Formylamino-6-chloropurine or its salt is hydrolyzed in water in the presence of an acid or an alkali and neutralized with acetic acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, etc., to give 2-amino-6-chloropurine having a needle- like or amorphous crystal form, which is suspended in water at pH3-10 and heated at 70-100 deg.C to give the objective high-purity 2-amino-6-chloropurine useful as an intermediate for an antiviral agent. |
