Narrowband excimer laser switchable between two preset wavelengths

The active medium (e.g. krypton fluoride) (1) is placed between wavelength selection slits (4) flanked by an exit mirror (3) and prisms (2). The resonator is completed by a dispersion grating (31) combined with a piezoelectric rocker (5) oscillating within defined limits under sinusoidal AC voltage. At each reversal the grating adopts a position corresponding to the laser emission wavelength for amplification. Fluorescence of a specimen (14) is recorded by CCD camera (8) and processed (15) so that responses to successive laser pulses are stored at different places.
