Gripping mechanism for controlling roller doors

The gripping device is used for closures for openings, e.g. roller doors with roller bodies (30). There is a central shaft (2) which is keyed to a rotor (11) which has a non-cylindrical outer body and may incorporate a small diameter cylindrical or spherical stop body (5). The rotor is surrounded by a cage (7) which has a non-cylindrical inside surface. A tapered gap (12) is formed between the two surfaces, in which the stop element may jam.
