The invention concerns a device (V) for dispensing discrete doses (2') of a liquid (2) from a reservoir (3), preferably in the form of a replaceable cartridge (K), through a dispensing nozzle (4), preferably in the form of a hypodermic needle (5) mounted on the cartridge. The device is designed to enable exactly reproducible doses to be dispensed from the reservoir and administered reliably. This is achieved by use of an intermediate reservoir (17) into which the dose (2') passes after being dispensed from the main reservoir (3), the intermediate reservoir (17) working in conjuction with a discharge plunger (19) which has a channel (18) passing through it to allow the intermediate reservoir (17) to be filled.
