The hydraulic knuckle jib crane for handling goods cargoes comprises pillar (2), swivelling on a base (3), a lifting jib (4), a luffing jib (5) and a telescopic jig (41). They are operated, respectively, by hydraulic cylinders (7,8,11) having conventional control systems. An auxiliary cylinder (20) connects between the base and the jib in parallel with the cylinder (7). A cylinder (10) may be pneumatic or preferably hydraulic and connected, via conduit (26) to a gas/oil accumulator (27) with a floating piston (52). This auxiliary cylinder balances out the main downward load on the jib. |
