PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal carrier more advantageous than a conventional one in all of exhaust gas purifying capacity, engine durability and production cost. SOLUTION: In this metal carrier for catalyst formed by cylindrically winding metal corrugated foil 3 obtained by subjecting metal flat foils 2 to plastic processing to form them into a corrugated shape to form a honeycomb member or alternately laminating the metal flat foil 2 and the metal corrugated foil 3 to form the honeycomb member and incorporating the honeycomb member in a metal outer cylinder 1, as at least one foil among the metal flat foil 2 and the metal corrugated foil 3, metal foil with a thickness of below 40μm is used and the metal foils are mutually subjected to solid phase diffusion bonding under a condition not reducing the amt. of Al in the metal foil.
