PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the distance from the surface of water water to the surface of a deposit accumulated in the bottom part of a sedimentation tank even after the start of discharging treated water by attaching an ultrasonic sensor to a float and installing a guide means for guiding the float up and down inside a sedimentation tank. SOLUTION: Inside a sedimentation tank 10, a guide rod 20 and a float 30 which is guided upward and downward by the guide rod 20 are installed. The float 30 has a float body consisting of a hollow and hermetically sealed box body, and a through hole is made in the float body, and the guide rod 20 is fitted, with play, into the through hole. On the side face of the float body, a transmission ultrasonic sensor 40 and a reception ultrasonic sensor 50 are provided through a bracket 4. When waste water is caused to flow in the sedimentation tank 10, the float 30 is moved while being guided, and the sensors 40, 50 provided on the float 30 also follow the displacement of the surface of waste water 80. Therefore, the distance from the surface of the waste water to a deposit in the sedimentation tank is measured. |
