PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve bending strength, bending toughness and shock resistance by mixing principal stock consisting of powdery siliceous stock, calcareous stock and cement with specified reinforcing fibers. SOLUTION: Principal stock consisting of siliceous stock, calcareous stock, cement and a blowing agent each having <=10μm average particle diameter is mixed with 0.02-5.0vol.% reinforcing fibers having 3-50mm length to obtain the objective aerated lightweight concrete having a specific gravity of 0.4-1.4. The reinforcing fibers are short fibers of copoly-p-phenylene.3,4'- oxydiphenyleneterephthalamide with a solid inorg. compd. having cation exchange ability and no ion adsorbing property fixed on the surfaces.
