PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable power eccentric optical system which can perform consecutive variable power with a simple constitution, and by which trapezium deformation does not occur on an image in the case of the variable power. SOLUTION: This variable power eccentric optical system is constituted of a first lens group Gr1, a second lens group Gr2 including a stop S, and a third lens group Gr3, and the respective groups Gr1 to Gr3 are decentered by the inclined angles ofθ1 toθ3 with respect to an X-axis. The group Gr2 is a two-group zoom optical system having negative and positive constitutions constituted of a first zoom group GrA and a second zoom group GrB including the stop S. Zooming is performed by the respective parallel movement of the negative first zoom group GrA and the group GrB in an optical axis AX2 direction at different moving speeds.
