An aqueous plasticised polymer dispersion is applied on carbamazepine crystals without causing formation of carbamazepine dihydrate. The carbamazepine crystals with their aqueous coating may be mixed with appropriate auxiliarly substances, shaped into divisible tablets or filled into capsules.
