A lipstick composition comprises: (A) 50-85 wt.% water; (B) 5-30 wt.% isopropyl alcohol; (C) 0-10 wt.% 1,2-propylene glycol; (D) 0-5 wt.% sorbitol; (E) 0-2 wt.% flavouring; (F) 0-2 wt.% polyethylene glycol (20) stearyl ether methacrylic acid ester/acrylic acid copolymer; (G) 0.1-0.5 wt.% 2-phenoxyethanol; (H) 0.05-0.1 wt.% imidazolidinyl urea; (I) 0.01-0.02 wt.% 1,2-dibromo-2,4-dicyanobutane; (J) 0.05-0.12 wt.% 4-hydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester; (K) less than 0.02 wt.% 4-hydroxybenzoic acid ethyl ester; (L) less than 0.02 wt.% 4-hydroxybenzoic acid propyl ester; (M) less than 0.02 wt.% 4-hydroxybenzoic acid isobutyl ester; (N) less than 0.02 wt.% 4-hydroxybenzoic acid butyl ester; (O) 0.1-1 wt.% sodium carbonate; (P) 0-1 wt.% lactic acid; and (Q) 0-5 wt.% water soluble cosmetic dye.
