PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forming method of a lubricating film by which the amt. of a phosphorus-contg. fluorine compd. in a lubricant film formed on a protective film of a magnetic recording medium can be controlled to a predetermined density. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium 1 produced by successively laminating a base layer, a magnetic layer 15 and a protective film 16 on a medium substrate is dipped in a lubricant liquid to which a phosphorus-contg. fluorine compd. is added to form a lubricating film 2 on the surface of the protective film 16. After the lubricating film 2 is formed, the amt. of phosphorus in the lubricating film 2 is measured by total reflection fluorescence X-ray analysis. Based on the measured value, the concn. of the phosphorus-contg. fluorine compd. in the lubricant liquid is controlled. Therefore, the amt. of the phosphorus-contg. fluorine compd. in the lubricating film of a magnetic recording medium 1 next produced can be controlled. As for the phosphorus-contg. fluorine compd., a fluorine compd. having a phosphagen ring can be used. By controlling the phosphorus-contg. fluorine compd. in the lubricating film to a predetermined density, friction between the magnetic recording medium and a head can be decreased. |
