PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a treating agent for fibers, capable of providing fibers with flexibility and water absorption properties excellent in durability, consisting essentially of a specific polyorganosiloxane and a polyethylene polyamine higher fatty acid type amide compound. SOLUTION: A polyethylene polyamine is reacted with a 12-24C higher fatty acid and a lower dicarboxylic acid such as maleic acid or a cyclic acid anhydride such as maleic anhydride or a lower glycidyl ether such as ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether or a diisocyanate such as tolylene diisocyanate to form a polyethylene polyamine higher fatty acid type amide compound containing at least one group having reactivity with an amine or a hydroxyl group. The objective treating agent for fibers consists essentially of a polyorganosiloxane containing an amino group and the amide compound in the weight ratio of 1:(0.1-1.5), preferably 1:(0.3-1.0). The treating agent is stuck to various fiber materials and cured to provide the fiber materials with fixed functions. |
