摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent reproduced image without image disturbance and to attain efficient image coding processing by using both inter-field correlation and in-field correlation so as to detect a motion of an image accurately in a 2-dimensional block. SOLUTION: Based on image data of a 1st field and image data of a 2nd field resulting from dividing received block image data by a field division circuit 22, an inter-field discrimination processing section 23 compares a level of a correlation between fields of the image data in a block with a threshold level T so as to discriminate the result, and an in-field discrimination processing section 24 compares a level of an in-field correlation of the image data in a block with a threshold level T2 so as to discriminate the result. A motion discrimination circuit 25 detects a motion of an image based on the quantity of the interfield and in-field correlation. Thus, an excellent reproduced image without image disturbance is obtained and efficient image coding processing is attained.</p>
