FIELD: shaving appliances. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing abrasive working of blade to form wedge-shaped sharpened edge with entrance angle below 17 deg. Sharpened edge is spaced from blade tip by distance of 40 micron with blade tip radius below 500 angstrom; applying strengthening layer such as layer of diamond or diamond-like carbon to blade, with radius at extreme point of wedge-shaped edge being below 400 angstrom and thickness being at least equal to 1,200 angstrom in the zone spaced from tip of wedge-shaped edge by distance of 40 micron. Extreme point of layer is defined by faces having length of at least 0.1 micron with entrance angle between them being equal to 60 deg. Thickness ratio of layer above blade sharpened part and face layer is 1:1 - 3:1. Razor blade block has supporting structure carrying one or two blades.
