FIELD: metallurgy, metal continuous casting. SUBSTANCE: device has casting ladle with long tube in its bottom. Long tube enters working hollow of tundish provided with long nozzles in its bottom entering molds. Tundish has vertical transverse partitions separating the tundish working hollow into three interconnected zones. Device has DC plasma generator with graphite cathodes entering tundish working hollow and bottom electrodes installed in tundish bottom. Cathodes are made with through axial holes and cathode outer surface and surfaces of axial holes are provided with screw recesses. Number of starts of screw recesses is 2-5. Screw recess pitch amounts to 0.4-0.6 cathode outer diameter. Diameter of cathode internal hole equals to 0.08-0.12 of its outer diameter. EFFECT: increased intensity of heating and mass transfer in metal bulk, improved stability of cathodes and higher yield of quality ingots. 7 cl, 3 dwg, 1 tble |
