PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a protection method in which an apparatus such as a computer capable of operating copy management information cannot fetch data from a digital interface other than a copyfree signal. SOLUTION: When a bit in the reserved region of a CIP header is in a state that it is copyfree, a recording apparatus 2 which is compatible with a copy generation management system(CGMS) fetches data on its content as it is. In addition, when the bit is in a state that it looks at a copy generation management system-digital(CGMS-D) graph so as to be fetched, the recording apparatus fetches the CGMS-D graph so as to perform a copy management processing operation according to it. In a state that the bit in the reserved region of the CIP header is in a state that it is copyfree, a recording apparatus 4 which is not compatible with the CGMS fetches data on its content as it is. In addition, in a state that it detects the CGMS-D graph and that it instructs the recording apparatus so as to follow the graph, the recording apparatus does not fetch data on an input content. |
