DOUBLE LAYER PRINTING PLATE FOR WATER-DEVELOPABLE FLEXOGRAPHIC PRINTING AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the double layer plate durable against printing on a surface roughed substrate by laminating a water-insoluble light-transmitting elastomer layer and a water-developable photosensitive resin layer in this order on one side of a support. SOLUTION: The water-developable flexographic printing double layer plate 10 is formed by laminating the water-insoluble light-transmitting elastomer layer 2 and the photosensitive resin layer 3 and a cover film 4 in this order on one side of the support 1. The photosensitive resin layer 3 can be made substantially thin by forming the water-insoluble light-transmitting elastomer layer 2 on the support 1. This layer 2 comprises a thermoplastic elastomer and a water-insoluble plasticizer having a boiling point of >=150 deg.C. The composition of the thermoplastic elastomer and the water-insoluble light-transmitting elastomer is preferred to have a melting point of 60-200 deg.C in order to form the layer by extrusion molding from a molten state.
