A device (15) is disclosed for adjusting the inclination (angular position) of a headrest (1) on a backrest (6) of a vehicle seat (2) around a horizontal axis (3) substantially parallel to the upper edge of the seat. In order to improve the safety function of this headrest (1), a supporting element (4, 5) which supports the headrest (1) on the backrest (6) is mounted on a rotary element (7) rotatively mounted in the backrest (6). A driving device (8) can rotate forward the rotary element (7) around an axis (3) that extends through the top part of the backrest (6) when an excessive acceleration acts on the vehicle. |
