SOLUTION: The difference obtained by subtracting the learned value of lowering of lock up engaging force at deceleration, from the leaned value of lock up engaging force of the present deceleration, is used as the new learned value of engaging force at deceleration, in the case when the driving condition of a vehicle is a deceleration traveling condition, it is judged that a lock up solenoid 8 is in a lock up off control, and the slip rotation by a slip detection means, by the difference between the rotational frequency of an engine Ne and the rotational frequency of a turbine Nt, is not generated, and the control for updating and lowering the learned value of the lock up engaging force at deceleration by a specific correction width, is performed. Further the learning condition of the lock up engaging force at deceleration is judged, and the correction of the learning of the lock up engaging force is forbidden, when the learning condition of the lock up engagement capacity at deceleration, is not satisfied.
