A sprinkler fitting for irrigation provides a simplified structure and manufacturing process. The sprinkler fitting comprises a spout and a deflector moveably connected to one another. The spout is formed with a threaded proximal end with a water inlet for connection to a water supply, a nozzle at a distal end in fluid communication with the water inlet at the proximal end and a circumferential groove between the proximal and distal ends of the spout. The deflector is moulded to include: an annular member to be retained in the groove of the spout; a generally cone shaped spray deflector connected to the annular member; an apex of the spray deflector directed generally towards the nozzle; and spray grooves extending from the apex towards an outer extremity of the deflector. The deflector is formed from a resilient material in a single piece. The sprinkler fitting may be manufactured by: forming a spout; moulding a deflector in a resilient plastics material; and pressing the deflector onto the spout for easier assembly. |
