The window lift has a guide rail supporting the guide element (4) along the bottom edge of the window pane. The guide element has a height-adjustment set screw (10) for the window pane. When closed the window pane is pressed against a seal by an inclined face (13) formed on the guide rail. The set screw interacts with the inclined face so that the window pane is pressed against the seal. The inclined face can be on the upper edge of the guide rail and adjoined by a stop shoulder (14) which is concave relative to the set screw. The screw can be screwed into an inner thread (8) of the guide element running parallel to the longitudinal extension of the guide rail. The screw has a ball head (10') interacting with the inclined face and concave shoulder.
