PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cap a printing head without applying an overload and prevent ink from being dried, by forming a nozzle of the printing head held to an outer circumferential face of a drum rotatable at a constant peripheral velocity of a cap member which can shut the nozzle, and an elastic member of a hollow projection not passing ink. SOLUTION: A waste ink receiver 231 is fixedly mounted to an elevator frame 241. Cap members 246 are arranged in an arrangement direction of ink discharge openings to correspond to the ink discharge openings when corresponding nozzles are capped. Each cap member 246 is formed of an impermeable elastic member (e.g. silicone rubber) in a hollow cylinder. Even when the cap member 246 is pressed in touch with the corresponding ink discharge opening of the nozzle, the cap member 246 is elastically deformed because of its hollow cylindrical shape and absorbs a load of not smaller than a required value. Accordingly, each nozzle is surely capped without being damaged and ink is prevented from being dried. |
