PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient accuracy of road slope determination by the use of vehicular acceleration. SOLUTION: In the case that engine brake is not sensed to be used in the present gear stage of an automatic transmission 14 by means of an engine brake inaction state determination means 110, the determination of road slope by means of a road slope determination means 106 base on vehicular acceleration is prohibited by a road slope determination prohibition means 114. Road slope determination is thus prevented in the case that acceleration does not means road slope, so that accuracy of the road slope determination is kept. At the same time, the deterioration of drivability is properly prevented, which may be caused by executing hill climbing control or downslope control based on road slope determination without accuracy. |
