PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which develops excellent antibacterial properties, is freed from disadvantages such as peeling and retains impact strength by mixing a styrene resin with zinc oxide, a metal organic carboxylate and an olefin resin in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: Styrene resin (A) of 99.79-70wt.% is mixed with 0.1-10wt.% zinc oxide (B), 0.01-10wt.% metal organic carboxylate (C) and 0.1-10wt.% olefin resin (D). It is desirable that component C is previously dispersed in component A, and components B and D are added to the dispersion. The organic moiety of the metal organic carboxylate is particularly desirably an alkylcarboxylic acid, and the metal of the metal salt is most desirably Zn. It is desirable that component D is a high-density polyethylene or a linear low-density polyethylene when component C is metal salt of a long-chain alkylcarboxylic acid. A molding having a 0.5mm or thicker part, such as an injection molding prepared from the composition, shows the highest antibacterial effect. |
