PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the operation-assist device to properly perform the assist operation even when a potentiometer for detecting the position of an operating tool fails to function properly. SOLUTION: The operation-assist device in which a potentiometer 41 for controlling an electric motor 23 so that an assist force is given in the artifitial operating direction of an operating tool 26 for operating a variavle speed part 20 mechanically interlocked with and coupled to the operating tool, and detecting whether the operating tool 26 is positioned in the neighborhood of the end part of an operating region or not, is provided, and which gives a smaller assist force than the assist force at the time when the operating tool is outside the operating region, to prevent hunting when the operating tool 26 is positioned near the end part of the operating region, detects the operating state of the variable speed part 20 which corresponds to the operating position of the operating tool 26 instead of the potentiometer 41 to prevent hunting when the potentiometer 41 is not operated properly. |
