PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost of an information reader, while precisely obtaining the image information by removing exciting light from the light from stimulable phosphor, in a radiograph information reader. SOLUTION: This reader having a line light source 21 light for exciting a stimulable phosphor sheet 10 as the light source of the exciting, is provided with an optical fiber bundle 22, an exciting light separation filter 23, an image formation lens 24 and a CCD(charge coupled device) 25, opposedly to the surface on the side opposite to the light source 21 of the sheet 10 emitting light by stimula along the line light source 21, while allowed to detect the image information in the extension direction of the line light source 21 by slenderly dividing for every picture element. In this way, the need of a scanning optical system such as a rotary polygon mirror or fθlens is eliminated, which is conventionally required for performing the main scanning of a laser beam.
