PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a Pt-coated sheet in a short process which has high adhesion property between Pt and the base material and high reliability as a sample base for a scanning tunnel analysis microscope and which can be cut into a desired shape by forming a Pt sputtering film on the base sheet in such a manner that the surface contains specified proportion of a specified crystalline face. SOLUTION: After the surface of the base sheet is cleaned, a Pt film is applied by sputtering on the surface to 100 to 10000Åthickness. The obtd. Pt-coated sheet has Pt (111) plane by >=70% of the film surface. As for the base sheet, an org. polymer sheet or a Ni-plated Al sheet can be used. As for the org. polymer, especially polyester, polymethylmethacrylate, polycarbonate and polyimide can be used. The surface roughness of the Pt-coated sheet as the final product is required to <=20nm. If the base sheet is a Ni-plated Al sheet, the sheet is processed to have V-shaped grooves according to the shape for the final use.
