PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of an error and facilitate assembly by providing a shift lever, a cable operating arm and a coupler for fixing the cable operating arm on the shift lever while adjusting the position. SOLUTION: A shift device 10 has a shift lever 11' and a cable operating arm. The shift device 10 has a coupler, and this coupler is shiftable between an installation position of making the position of the cable operating arm adjustable, and an interlocking position of fixing the arm to the shift lever 11'. The shift lever 11' is provided with an actuator for shifting the coupler from the installation position to the interlocking position when the cable operating arm is placed in a desirable position. This shift lever assembly 11 has main parts fitted to the shift lever 11' itself and unified so as to be quickly fittable, and accumulated errors or the like can be absorbed by adjusting mechanism.
